Known for its constant sand-sifting behavior, the Yellow Head Sleeper Goby helps keep the substrate clean by filtering sand through its gills in search of tiny crustaceans and organic matter. This natural behavior helps aerate the sand bed while reducing detritus buildup, making it a valuable member of a healthy reef ecosystem.

These gobies thrive in aquariums with a mature sand bed, plenty of open swimming space, and secure rockwork placed directly on the aquarium bottom to prevent shifting. They are peaceful tankmates and can be kept with most reef-safe fish.
