Astrea snail
The Astrea Snail is a hardworking algae grazer and an essential member of any reef aquarium clean-up crew. With its distinctive star-shaped shell and constant grazing behavior, this snail is highly effective at controlling film algae, diatoms, and early nuisance algae on rocks, glass, and aquarium décor.
Astrea Snails spend their days methodically cleaning hard surfaces, helping to keep your aquarium looking its best while reducing unwanted algae growth naturally. They are completely reef safe and coexist peacefully with corals, fish, and other invertebrates, making them an excellent addition to reef aquariums of all sizes.
Unlike Trochus Snails, Astrea Snails cannot always right themselves if they fall onto their backs, so occasional assistance may be needed. Despite this, they remain one of the most popular and efficient algae-eating snails available.
