Tomini tang

The Tomini Tang is a beautiful and hardworking addition to any reef aquarium, recognized for its sleek charcoal-gray body accented by vibrant orange fins and a striking white tail. As one of the smaller tang species, it is an excellent choice for hobbyists looking to enjoy the personality and algae-grazing benefits of a tang without requiring an exceptionally large aquarium.

Unlike many other tangs, the Tomini Tang is a bristletooth species, using its specialized teeth to constantly graze film algae, diatoms, and detritus from rocks and aquarium surfaces. This natural behavior makes it a valuable member of any clean-up crew while providing nonstop activity throughout the day.

Generally peaceful, the Tomini Tang gets along well with most reef-safe fish but may become territorial toward other tangs, particularly those with a similar shape or feeding habits. With a varied herbivore diet and plenty of swimming space, this hardy species thrives in established marine aquariums.
